WhatsApp Web Will Not Need to Connect to a Cellphone?

WhatsApp is reportedly developing several new features. One feature called will make WhatsApp more similar to Apple's messaging application, iMessage. Similarities are available in application applications that are more flexible on all devices. This means that one WhatsApp account will be used on several devices, both from a different smartphone or desktop, simultaneously. WhatsApp users have been able to use smartphones and WhatsApp Web all at once. However, to use WhatsApp Web, the PC must be approved with a cellphone that is connected to the internet first.

Well, according to the rumors concerned, the need to connect WhatsApp Web with WhatsApp on the cellphone will no longer apply. Thus, using WhatsApp on several different devices such as desktops, laptops and cellphones will be easier because you don't need to re-connect to your cellphone every time you switch devices. Nevertheless, because it is still limited to rumors, as summarized by KompasTekno from The Next Web, Monday (07/29/2019), it is not clear how the feature will work later.

Please note that there are security reasons behind having to connect a smartphone to the desktop when using WhatsApp Web. All messages are bound to the user's telephone number and are only stored locally on the mobile, not on the WhatsApp server. Therefore, WhatsApp Web needs to take messages via cellphone. This mechanism might need to be changed if you want to apply the features above.
