We cover many e-books and PDF files on FossMint. While some are sophisticated enough to scan digital comics, they do not always offer users all the features that allow a complete comic experience.

YACReader

Calibre


Calibre is a free, open-source eBook collection that allows users to organize virtual libraries, edit metadata, synchronize content with other programs, and convert electronic media between formats.

Calibre is a powerful application for managing digital libraries capable of displaying almost any type of e-book. What you can not see by default, the accessories can come to save you.

Contains multiple sorting and filtering modes, options for managing metadata content, views, import/export support, and automatic updates. If you want a complete reading mill, the Calibre is a good choice.

Calibre contains a binary installation script that comes with all its dependencies, just copy and paste the following command to install or update it.

Lector


Lector is a free, open-source Qt-based eBook Lector. You can customize the font type, size, page colors, spacing, and zoom control.

In addition to supporting all popular digital media formats including PDF, MOBI, CBZ and AZW, you can edit and read the raw data of the book in a distraction-free mode.

Lector is available only for installation in Fedora, OpenSuse, Arch and Gentoo distributions for standard repositories and other Linux distributions that can be manually installed using the installation directory here.


MComix


MComix is an open source GTK + Reader specially designed for cartoonists, which also serves as an overview of PDFs and other document formats.

It has a comprehensive online guide that tracks reading, fast scrolling, multiple page times and customization, for example, background color changes, masking toolbars, and more.


BookWorm


Bookworm is a simple e-book reader focused on its simplicity designed to be devoid of distraction by default. Supports CBZ, CBR, MOBI, PDF, EPUB formats, network list/display, filtering using the search functionality, metadata classifications, and keyboard shortcuts.

Gomics


Gomics is a GTK3 comic book viewer and an open source image viewer. It is written in the Go programming language to be compatible with memory, with a simple and unorganized interface.

Gomics offers users smart scrolling, bookmarks, random page rank, and movement between CG scenes based on the similarity of images, animations, image media, manga, and so on.

Gomics is only available for Arch Linux from the AUR repository, other Linux distributions can follow the installation directory here.


Peruse 


Peruse is an open source comic reader created and maintained by the KDE community to make reading e-books more fun in the KDE desktop environment.

Peruse is available for Linux and Windows and has a simplified interface with support for all popular animation formats, including cbz and cba. You can sort comics by title, series, recently added and author. See our article on Peruse here.

Peruse is available for installation as AppImage on your Linux system.


ACBF Viewer


ACBF Viewer is an open source book reader that works with all popular comics formats, including CBZ / CBR, ACV, and ACBF file formats.

Written in ACBF in Python and available for Windows and Linux. It has 3 views, supports text layer translations, indexing metadata, sorting, filtering, etc.

The ACBF Viewer is available for installation on Ubuntu and other Ubuntu-based systems using the official PPA as described.

QComicBook


QcomicBook is a C++ open source viewer for image files designed to provide simplicity and convenience. Its features include support for JPEG, PNG, BMP, XPM, GIF, full screen, page size, scrolling, manga and so on.

QComicBook also provides image rotation, keyboard shortcuts, thumbnail preview settings, and other customization settings that you can take advantage of when you install them.

comical


Comical is an open-source C++ viewer that focuses on CBR and CBZ using wxWidgets. It is available for installation on Windows, Mac, and Linux systems with support for various formats.

Comical offers its users two unique advantages: conversion capability and high-quality image development algorithms. These features let you run Comical in the comfort of your pen drive without worrying about problems such as font size, image quality, etc.

CbrPagerComix, and Jomic are authors of an easy-to-use open source eBook designed to read CBZ, CBR, and PDF files. They have features that make them unique, such as support for multiple image formats and caching.

You should know that they have not received updates for many years and are lagging behind in many of the features offered by their latest alternatives. However, they have a simple user interface which is among the best in their time, so they can still attract you.
